There are several attractions in Florida
especially in the northern and central part, and many of these attractions are natural springs that will make you keep on going back to Florida just to see these
numerous bounties
of nature. Florida has more than 600 springs; most of
these are owned and manage by the Division of Recreation and Parks for the
State of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection. Tourists enjoy these
springs because the water temperature remains constant at around 70 to 73
degrees even on summer and winter.
Blue
Spring State Park. This is one of the most visited springs in the Florida especially
during the
winter months. Statistics shows that this spring gets
to lure 500,000 visitors annually. During summer most of its visitors are
enjoying activities like boating, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and swimming.
Alexander Springs. Aside from being the perfect watering hole during summer days, scuba
diving is its main attraction. Scuba diving or snorkelling allows visitors to
view the abundance of fish and underwater vegetation in the springs. Its
recreation area offers a 67-unit campground that can accommodate tents and
recreational vehicles up to 35 feet. The campground does not offer electrical,
water or sewer hook-ups, but hot showers.
Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park. Located 16 miles southwest of Live Oak on State Road 51, two miles
east of Luraville on Peacock Springs Road. This park features one of the
longest underwater cave systems in the continental United States. Swimming in
Peacock Springs and Orange Grove Sink are popular activities during the summer.
Grills and pavilions are available for picnicking.
